Increasing Employees’ Productivity by Being a Family-Friendly Manager
It has been more than a year when the work-from-home (WFH) became the new norm. While some are managing to flourish from the new setup, others are also struggling. The WFH blurs the boundaries between work and family demands. As a result, more and more employees are becoming vulnerable to distress and burnout. In these trying times, managers can play an active role in fostering their employees’ work engagement and performance. However, the asynchronous communication at work can make their relationship with their employees complicated. Moreover, the lack of sensitivity towards their employees’ family obligations and responsibilities can bring more burden on their end.
This workshop is designed to train managers and supervisors in providing emotional and practical support to employees who are challenged by work-life balance. At the end of the 2-day workshop, participants are expected to:
Understand their own stressors that affect their productivity
Increase their empathy towards employees by understanding the effects of WFH on family climate and dynamics
Recognize the connection between employees’ performance and the barriers in achieving their work-life balance
Know the ways of creative work-family management
Enhance their skills in remote communication of emotional and instrumental support to employees

Alessandra Arpon, RPsy
Alessandra Arpon, RPsy is working in education, research, assessment, and mental health awareness, treatment, and care. She earned her BS psychology from Far Eastern University - Manila with a magna cum laude distinction and a master’s degree in clinical psychology from De La Salle University – Manila where she is also taking her Ph. D. in clinical counseling psychology. She is a licensed psychologist who garnered the 5th place during the licensure examination for psychologist in 2017.
