Training Overview:


In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, the Philippines has become a vibrant hub of connectivity, fueled by widespread social media use, mobile device penetration, and a strong digital infrastructure. While these advancements bring opportunities for innovation and communication, they also expose individuals to challenges such as the rapid spread of misinformation, cybersecurity risks, and concerns over privacy and data protection.


This Training, Digital Literacy for Filipinos: Fighting Mis-/Disinformation, Empowering the Self in Cyberspace, seeks to address these issues by equipping participants with the skills to critically evaluate information, adopt cybersecurity best practices, and engage responsibly online. By fostering digital literacy, this training aims to build a more secure and informed online community, empowering Filipinos to navigate the digital age with confidence and resilience.


Training Objectives:


At the end of this training, participants should be able to:

  • Enhance digital awareness

  • Strengthen cybersecurity practices

  • Promote responsible digital citizenship

John Reczon Calay

John Reczon Calay

John Reczon E. Calay is an accomplished professional in journalism, media studies, and digital content strategy, with extensive experience in fostering responsible journalism and promoting media literacy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, and is pursuing a Master of Arts in Filipino Studies at the same institution, focusing on media studies and Filipino culture.


Currently, John serves as the Creative Content Specialist at TV5 Network, Inc. (News5 Digital), where he leads content planning, supervises creative teams, and manages digital platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. His expertise in digital content strategy, combined with his background in journalism, allows him to create impactful narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.


John has a passion for education and has been a part-time instructor at the University of Rizal System Angono, College of Arts and Letters. He teaches journalism, media law, and communication ethics, equipping future professionals with critical thinking and ethical media practices. His dedication to academic excellence is also reflected in his research on Filipino language, culture, and journalism, which he has presented in national conferences.
